Assemblyman Rob Clifton to Speak at March 16 at Ocean County ELC Meeting

Assemblyman Rob Clifton, a member of the Budget Committee and the featured speaker at the Ocean County ELC, (Employer Legislative Committee) meeting and breakfast Friday, March 16, 2018, from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center, 815 Route 37 West, Toms River, N.J. will discuss the 2019 Fiscal Year budget (July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019) Governor Murphy plans to present.

Assemblyman Clifton, who represents Comcast on the board of United Way of Monmouth and Ocean counties, is responsible for government affairs activity for Comcast for Monmouth, Ocean, and Central New Jersey.

Prior to joining Comcast, he served as the director of Industry Relations for the New Jersey Pavement and Asphalt Association, where he served as the liaison between the association and municipalities, counties, and state officials throughout New Jersey regarding transportation improvement issues. Before that position, he served as a Legislative Aide to Assemblyman Michael J. Arnone.

ELC meetings, open to the public, are designed to inform the business community about important legislation, provide face-to-face opportunities with key government officials, and encourage dialogue between business and government.

About Assemblyman Rob Clifton: Assemblyman Clifton previously oversaw Comcast of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Mercer County. In 1996, Assemblyman Clifton was appointed Mayor of the Borough of Matawan and was elected in 1997, 1999 and 2003. In 2004, he was elected to the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders and reelected in 2007 and 2010. In 2011, Rob was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly and was re-elected in 2013, 2015, and 2017. He currently serves on the Transportation & Independent Authorities, Housing & Community Development, and Budget committees.

Born and raised in Matawan, Rob attended local elementary schools and graduated from St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel. He earned a B.A. in political science from Rider College, Lawrenceville, N.J., and an M.A. in political science from the University of Richmond, Richmond, Va. He resides in Matawan with his wife and two sons.
