DeLuxe Cartridges.com Celebrates Its Eighth Year in Business

Posted on April 1, 2016 By

Anthony Urgola, Wall Township and River Vale, New Jersey, the president of DeLuxe Cartridges.com, is celebrating the eighth anniversary of his business and his more than 40 years in the print industry.

Urgola began his own business in 2008 as part of the Cartridge Depot franchise. In 2013, however, he created DeLuxe Cartridges.com, an independent ink and toner cartridge supply business, a registered veteran-owned business.

Since creating his own company, Urgola has tripled his sales, selling cartridges to businesses, and county and local governments that often save up to 50 percent. Urgola is also a wholesale supplier to retailers who sell to businesses and professionals, such as law firms, accountants, and insurance agencies throughout the United States.

Besides running his company, Urgola is in charge of marketing, new services, and business development. Urgola prides himself in helping to save the environment by reducing the amount of plastic and metal in landfills by remanufacturing and selling toner and ink cartridges used in Laser and Inkjet printers, copiers, all-in-one printers, and fax machines.

After graduating from the New York School of Printing High School at the age of 17, Urgola began his career in the printing industry in a variety of positions in the printing and thermography (raised printing) industry, doing everything from running printing presses to sweeping floors. He worked in various plant manufacturing positions and management, eventually becoming vice president and Group Chairman of Williamhouse-Regency, a NYC Fortune 1000 printing and paper converting company with 4,000 employees and manufacturing operations throughout the United States.

Urgola later served as president of Faust Thermographic Supply, Inc., Linden, N.J., a manufacturer of raised printing powders sold throughout the world. The product is used to produce raised, printed business cards, letterheads, envelopes, greeting cards, and wedding invitations.

Urgola was graduated from New York Community College, where he received an A.A. in graphic arts and advertising technology. He served two years in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge as a Specialist 5th Class (administrative specialist) and successfully completed the Assistant Drill Sergeant course. As a past member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, he became a certified “VE” Vessel Examiner, certified CREW member, and a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security.

He was the inventor of a patent to produce high raised printed borders (bumpy borders) for children’s coloring books, which Crayola Crayon Co. marketed. And, he was co-inventor of a patent for a retrofit unit to a web printing press to produce raised printed patterns on gift wrap, labels, boxes and forms.

Anthony said that with the advent of PCs and the ability of businesses and professionals to print their own letterheads, envelopes, brochures, post cards, etc. the printing industry went downhill. After taking a big financial loss in a printing brokerage business, Urgola decided to go into the manufacturing and selling of toner and ink cartridges, a natural fit for someone with many years of hands-on printing experience.

Urgola serves as a member of the board of directors of the Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce. He is also an active member of the Brick and Lakewood chambers of commerce.
