Edmund Bennett is being honored as a long-time supporter of FPCOC. In 1992, he customized and built the FPCOC building at 290 River Avenue, Lakewood. Linda Griffith served as the president and CEO of FPCOC from 1971 until her retirement in 2007.  Dr. Shahab served as the medical director for 33 years, from 1974 to 2007.

Barbara York, a board member, created FPCOC’s biggest annual fund raiser—Look Who’s Cooking—19 years ago.  She was instrumental in organizing and running this event each year during which “Men of Distinction” served samples of their favorite dishes (recipes) to the public.

Since 1971, FPCOC, the only family planning agency in Ocean County, been providing quality, low-cost health care services for the economically disadvantaged and working families on a sliding fee scale structure. Throughout 2010, although all state funding was eliminated from the 2010-11 state budget, FPCOC provided health care services to 4,628 women, men and adolescents in Ocean County; and another 8,727 through community education.

The services of FPCOC include reproductive education and health care; breast exams, pap smears, and colposcopy for cancer screening; pregnancy testing, information about approved birth control methods including abstinence; sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment; HIV testing and counseling; and community health education and outreach, among others.
