Financial Resources FCU Foundation Announces Annual Scholarship Program

Posted on May 16, 2011 By

Bridgewater, N.J. – The charitable foundation of Financial Resources Federal Credit Union will be awarding three $1000.00 scholarships to high school seniors preparing for college or technical school. Applicants must either be credit union members or be residents of Somerset, Middlesex, or Hunterdon counties.

For the first time, applicants will be judged on SAT scores, if applicable; academic performance, community involvement, teacher recommendations, and personal goals, rather than an essay, which was used in years past as the basis for awarding scholarships.

Lena Matthews, Chairman of the Foundation and President and CEO Financial Resources Federal Credit Union says, “The new format allows us to assess the candidates across a broader range of criteria.  We’re considering their experiences and scholastic achievements as a whole, rather than just their ability to deliver a well-written essay.”

Interested students can find the exact requirements and the scholarship application at: http://www.myfinancialresources.org/home/about/foundation/annual

Entries must be postmarked or received by the deadline June 30, 2011.

The scholarship funds must be used for tuition or textbooks and only at an accredited educational institution (a 2- or 4-year college, university, or technical school).

Completed scholarship applications should be mailed to: Financial Resources, Marketing Department, 520 U.S. Highway 22 East, Bridgewater, N.J., 08807-2410.
