Lakewood Public Works Announces New Days for Bulk and Trash Pickup, Starting Jan. 1

Posted on September 19, 2017 By

Mark your calendars for two important changes, starting January 1, 2018! First, your bulk trash pickup day is now Friday (not Wednesdays), every week according to your zone*. Bulk trash are items, such as brush, metal, leaves, e-waste, and sanitation bulk.

The second change: All normal trash (green can) and recycling (yellow can) pickups for Thursday and Friday will now be collected the day before. So if your normal pickup day was Thursday, it is now Wednesday.  If your normal pickup day was Friday, it is now Thursday.

Very important reminders about bulk trash: All residents must call for an appointment to have their bulk trash picked up. Remember, bulk trash is only collected once a month in your zone so if a holiday occurs on your bulk trash pickup week, you will have to wait until the next month.

Be sure to separate metal, brush, electronics, and bulk trash, and neatly stack these items at your curbside so they do not wind up in the road or cause someone to fall on them. To reduce the risk of accidents, do not put out items scheduled for bulk pick earlier than the Wednesday before a scheduled pick up. Sorry, no construction or demolition materials will be picked up.

Besides calling for an appointment to pick up bulk trash, residents can also schedule a pickup at http://lakewood.mobile311.com, which they can save as an icon to make it an app. Although the application is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the DPW is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., exclusive of holidays.  All requests, however, will be viewed the next business day.
