Lakewood’s Annual Night Out Against Crime August 2 in Pine Park

The Lakewood Police Department is hosting its annual Night Out Against Crime, Tuesday, August 2, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Pine Park, Lakewood. Night Out Against Crime, established in 1994, is an annual community-building campaign that promotes positive police and community relationships among many agencies.

Lakewood School Resource Officer Alex Guzman organized this event at which 4,000 or more people attend so that police departments and other emergency personnel can meet the public and provide information, helping to make neighborhoods safer and better places to live.

Attendees will receive a free raffle ticket with a chance to win a free bicycle. Enjoy free food and Kosher refreshments; demonstrations by the Ocean County Sheriff Department’s K9 division and the SWAT team; shows, such as free motorcycle show and a Lakewood First Aid extrication demo; giveaways, including water bottles and reflector belts, among others; Traveling Tykes rides and horse rides; a, LCSW bike registration, and free fingerprinting by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

The N.J. State Police are flying in a helicopter that will land on the baseball field. On display will be vehicles from the DPW, Chaverim, Hatzolah, Lakewood EMS, New Jersey Police Department and the Lakewood Fire Department, and many more.
The evening will end with a surprise special closing ceremony organized by Jeff Shapiro, supervisor of the Lakewood Recreation Department.
