OHI Opens a Pharmacy in Its Manchester Health Center

OHI, (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center (FQHC), recently opened an onsite pharmacy in its Manchester Health Center, Lakehurst Circle Center II, 686 Route 70, Lakehurst, N.J. The pharmacy is OHI’s first at the Manchester site.

Because OHI is an FQHC, only OHI patients are eligible to use the pharmacy under the discounted 340B pharmacy program; however, patients from all sites can use the services. The pharmacists at Manchester are Vijay Vohra, R.Ph (Registered Pharmacist); Maritza Perez, R.Ph.; and Theresa Bello, R.Ph., pharmacist-in-charge. Pharmacy hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Dr. Theresa Berger, CEO of OHI, said, “Getting your prescription at the same time as your doctor’s visit is a luxury most people do not have. Our patients will no longer have to go to a pharmacy to get their prescriptions filled. We are thrilled to be able to offer prescription pickup after the doctor prescribes the required medication; and with our 340B pricing tier, often for a fraction of the cost of commercial pharmacy.”

“The opening of our new pharmacy will provide much needed accessibility and convenience to vital pharmaceutical services for all OHI patients. It is important to us that we are able to give our patients the best care possible. We believe that means the most all- inclusive comprehensive care, and an onsite pharmacy provides a convenience that our patients need to consistently balance their health and their busy lives,“ said Gilbert Fleischer, MD, CMO.

Dr. Berger, said, “Currently, our Manchester pharmacy is filling prescriptions for self-pay patients only; but when we are participating in additional insurance networks, we will be able to fill those prescriptions as well.”
