For the third year in a row, the WRAT 95.9, a Greater Media radio station, will be providing the radio simulcast to the July 4th fireworks at Oceanfest, Long Branch, north of Pier Village. During the fireworks, for about 26 minutes, the WRAT will break its usual format to play a medley of Americana songs, old and new, providing a soundtrack for the fireworks, which are scheduled to begin at sundown or just after 9:00 p.m..

Oceanfest, which started in 1990, begins on July 4th at 10:00 a.m. with a festival-like atmosphere, including crafters, food vendors, activities for kids, live music, and entertainment all day long with the WRAT broadcasting live from the event. Circle Hyundai of Shrewsbury is sponsoring this event with the WRAT.

Doug Sjonvall, marketing director for Greater Media New Jersey, said, “For any other fireworks displays, feel free to tune into 95.9 to serve as your own fireworks soundtrack as well.”
