The Borough of Freehold, N.J., will celebrate Independence Day, the birthday of the United States of America, with a free concert and fireworks on Sunday, July 3. The band NRG will begin the celebration at 7:00 p.m. at Freehold Raceway, 130 Park Avenue, Freehold, N.J. 7728.

Freehold native Kason Jackson will sing The Star Spangled Banner, immediately followed by fireworks. The Avocados from Peru are sponsoring Greater Media radio stations 100.1 WJRZ and 95.9 the WRAT, who will be providing the soundtrack for the fireworks.

Attendees should bring lawn chairs. Vendors will be present with food and beverages.

July 4 marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776. It was the approval of the Declaration that began the separation of the 13 colonies from Great Britain, and eventually led to America’s freedom from Great Britain. Traditionally, this strictly American holiday is celebrated by displaying the American flag, and having patriotic parades, concerts, fireworks, picnics, and barbecues throughout the United States.

The fireworks are made possible by Freehold Borough and the generous support of sponsors. The rain date is July 10.
