New Jersey-based Home Health Care Company Opens Its Third Pennsylvania Branch

Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services (PHHC), with headquarters in Eatontown, N.J., has opened its third home health care office in Allentown, Pennsylvania. On Tuesday, October 6, 2015, the public is invited to enjoy light refreshments, meet local dignitaries, and tour the facility from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 1050 S. Cedar Crest Boulevard, Suite 202.

PHHC, which has eight locations in New Jersey and now three in Pennsylvania, provides a wide range of medical and non-medical home health care services from pediatric to geriatric care. PHHC, accredited by CHAP* (Community Health Accreditation Program), works collaboratively with physicians, hospitals, nursing homes and facilities to ensure a smooth transition to one’s home.

In-house services include skilled nursing care for infants, children, adults, and seniors; personal care services, including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, etc.; private duty nursing services; and at-home physical therapy, among others. All of the care can be provided in-house and is coordinated by registered nurses, with clinical supervision available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

OHI Opens a Pediatric Department in Manchester

Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI), a federally qualified health center (FQHC), has expanded its services by opening a pediatric department at its Manchester Health Center, Lakehurst Circle Center II, 686 Route 70 Lakehurst. OHI’s staff of board-certified medical providers will see patients for their pediatric exams at the Manchester site every Friday.

Pediatric services for patients ages 0 to 18 years include comprehensive primary preventive care, including well-baby, well-child, and adolescent visits; comprehensive care for acute and chronic pediatric illnesses; immunizations; and physicals for sports, school or employment. As part of OHI’s comprehensive primary care services, complete screening services are available for patients, including laboratory services.

Todd Thiede, CFO of Eatontown Company, Receives Honor from NJBiz

Todd Thiede, CPA, Hoboken, the chief financial officer (CFO) of Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services (PHHC), Eatontown, has been named one of New Jersey’s 2015 “Forty under 40” award winners by NJBiz, a New Jersey business news publication.

The “Forty under 40” awards program honors men and women under the age of 40 for their outstanding contributions to the state in their industry and community. The program also celebrates those who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence, and the community.

As CFO of Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services, a company that provides a wide range of medical and non-medical home health care services from pediatric to geriatric care throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Thiede is responsible for the entirety of corporate finance. He oversees the management of more than 150 corporate employees and more than 1,500 external nurses, among other duties.

Prior to joining PHHC, Thiede was vice president of financial planning and analysis for Goldman Sachs Inc., New York City, for five years.

Thiede’s long-term vision is to help transform Preferred from a regional provider to a national home health care powerhouse. He has been instrumental in helping steer Preferred’s growth into new markets that have diversified its revenue stream.

He was the architect behind Preferred’s largest acquisition, the Massachusetts-based Acelleron Medical Products. This acquisition expanded the company’s reach into New England and broadened its product line to include such durable medical equipment as pediatric nebulizers and breast pumps.

Thiede holds a B.S. in accounting from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He is a member of the board of directors for Circle of Life, an organization that provides palliative and end-of-life care for children with life-limiting illnesses as well as support for families.  He is also a member of the board of directors of Home Care Association of N.J., a statewide organization that educates and advocates for home care providers, and the patients and families they serve throughout New Jersey.

NJNG Energy Assistance Program

New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) Company is hosting its annual Energy Assistance Day at the Ocean County Library – Lakewood Branch, 301 Lexington Avenue, September 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Representatives from NJNG and state-designated agencies will be on hand to work with community members to determine which programs best fit their needs and assist them with the application process.

Lakewood Chamber and Strand to Host Retro Rock ‘n’ Roll Band

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Strand Center for the Arts is hosting The Jersey Shore Roustabouts!, a family friendly retro Rock ‘n’ Roll band, September 25, 2015, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood.

The Roustabouts include music from the golden era, including Elvis Presley, Dion and the Belmonts, Bobby Darin, Bill Haley & the Comets, the Everly Brothers, and more.

OHI Opens a Pharmacy in Its Lakewood Health Center

OHI, (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center (FQHC), recently opened an onsite pharmacy in its Lakewood location, 101 Second Street. The pharmacy is open Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The OHI pharmacy in Manchester is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Because OHI is an FQHC, OHI patients from all sites are eligible to use the pharmacy under the discounted 340B pharmacy program that has a pricing tier often at a fraction of the cost of commercial pharmacy. Qualified patients will receive prescriptions at a reduced rate.

Dr. Theresa Berger, CEO of OHI, said, “Currently, our Lakewood pharmacy is filling prescriptions for self-pay patients only; but when we are participating in additional insurance networks, we will be able to fill those prescriptions as well.”

The pharmacists in Lakewood are Pharmacist-in-Charge Vijay Vohra, R.Ph. (Registered Pharmacist); Maritza Perez, R.Ph.; and Theresa Bello, R.Ph.
