Pine Belt Cars Supports the Pt. Pleasant Beach Board of Ed – Wins Naming Rights for Five Years

Rob Sickel, owner of Pine Belt Cars, Lakewood, announced that Pine Belt has won the bid from the Point Pleasant Beach Board of Education for the naming rights of the High School Gymnasium and its Athletic Complex, off Niblick, Cooks Lane, and Yale and Trenton avenues, Point Pleasant Beach, for the next five years. The Complex will be known as The Pine Belt Athletic Complex at Point Pleasant Beach School District.

Sickel said, “We are so honored that the Point Pleasant Beach Board of Education accepted our bid, and we are excited that Pine Belt Cars is being recognized for its commitment to education and athletic youth programs.”

The support of Pine Belt Cars will help offset the costs of such upgrades as fencing, lighting, and renovations to the fields, for example. The Complex is used for high school and middle school graduation; New Jersey Special Olympics events; and the practice and games of the Pt. Pleasant beach Borough High School football team, and boys’ and girls’ soccer and track teams. It is also used for the marching band, elementary gym classes, both district and state-wide events, and community programs.

Lakewood Shade Tree Commission to Celebrate Arbor Day at the Lakewood Historical Museum

To commemorate Arbor Day, the Lakewood Township Committee and the Lakewood Shade Tree Commission will hold its annual Arbor Day Ceremony at the Sheldon Wolpin Historical Museum, Pine Park, Lakewood, on Friday, July 8 at 3:00 p.m.

The Shade Tree Commission members have planted three Kousa Dogwood trees, known as Chinese Dogwoods. According to Vice Chairman Craig Theibault these particular dogwoods have a later blooming time.

Arbor Day, first celebrated in 1872 in the United States, encourages individuals and groups to plant trees because of their environmental importance. Shade Tree Commission members hold Arbor Day celebrations the last Friday in April each year and have planted hundreds of trees throughout the town. Lakewood has been awarded “Tree City USA” for the past 38 years for its outstanding urban forestry.

Shade Tree Commission members include Chairman Moshe Raitzik, Vice Chairman Craig Theibault, Tzvi Gordon, Raphael Miller, Harrison Pfeffer, and Secretary Mary Kay Malec.
Lakewood Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller is the Commission’s liaison to the Township Committee. The Township Committee appoints members to the Shade Tree Commission.

Job Fair – July 16 at the Strand Theater

The board of the Stand Theater, 400 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood, is holding a job fair July 16 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Available positions are Box Office Manager, Theater Manager, stage hands, ushers, interns, volunteers, and people for the concession stands. Volunteers are needed but paid positions include those for concessions, box office, ushers, and techs, according to their experience. Be sure to bring a resume and references.

Two More Lakewood Twp. Consumption (Restaurant) Liquor Licenses Available for Bid

Because the sale of Lakewood Township’s Consumption (Restaurant) Liquor License was so successful this month, the Lakewood Township Committee has authorized the sale of two more licenses.

Under New Jersey law, all bidders must be qualified to have a liquor license in order to bid. Interested bidders can obtain Bidder’s Instructions and an Application Packet, including required forms necessary to be a bidder, from the Office of the Township Clerk, Lakewood Municipal Building, 231 Third Street, Lakewood, NJ 08701, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Forms can also be downloaded from the Township website at www.lakewoodnj.gov.

An application to qualify to bid for a license, must be handed into the Lakewood Township Clerk’s Office, Lakewood Municipal Building, by 4:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21. Qualified bidders will have until Thursday, September 1, 2022, by 4:00 p.m. to hand in their sealed bids.

The minimum acceptable bid is Two Hundred Thirty-Three Thousand ($233,000.00) Dollars and the Township of Lakewood reserves the right not to accept the highest bid and to reject any and all bids offered.

An announcement of the qualified bidders will be made Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in Lakewood Municipal Building, Conference Room C.

Drop Off Center Hours Extended until September for Lakewood Residents

Phil Roux, the Lakewood Township director of Public Works, has announced that Public Works is extending the hours of the Public Works Resident Drop Off Center, 1 America Way, Lakewood, beginning July 5, 2022.

The Township Drop Off Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, until September 2, 2022. After that, the Drop Off Center will close at 3:00 p.m.

Typical drop off items include cardboard, electronics, excess plastic and glass, furniture, etc. A box is available or clothing and shoe donations.

Prohibited items include paint; household chemicals; commercial construction and/or demolition materials; large amounts of wood, cabinets, drywall, sheetrock, plaster and concrete. All materials brought to the Drop Off Center can be denied at the discretion of its management.

Students at College Achieve Charter School, Patterson, Attended Crossroads Theater

Through the efforts of Monica Weeks, operations manager of Crossroad Theater, New Brunswick, and several donors, 32 middle and high school students from College Achieve College Achieve Paterson Charter School (CAPS), Paterson, had an opportunity to see the play “Freedom Rider” at no charge.

Weeks said, “We are so pleased that students were able to see a play and expand the cultural experience most students do not have.”

Michael Piscal, the founder and CEO of CAPS, said, “We’re so grateful for the generosity of Crossroads Theater and their donors for providing our students from College Achieve Paterson this enriching, eye-opening cultural experience. For many of our students this was the first time they had attended a play; and it is wonderful to see their cultural horizons expanded and their knowledge of history increased. We hope this experience will spark a desire within our student body to embrace theater as we work to expand our arts program at College Achieve Public Schools.”

Kulak Named Member of the Year by Home Care & Hospice Association of New Jersey

Stephanie Kulak, Flourtown, Pennsylvania, Corporate Clinical Director for Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services (PHHC), with offices in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, was honored with a Member of the Year Award by the Home Care & Hospice Association of N.J. (HCHANJ)

Since 1986, the Carol Kientz Member of the Year Award has been given to an individual who has gone above and beyond in involvement and commitment to the Home Care & Hospice Association of N.J., and its mission to promote the betterment of the home care and hospice industry in New Jersey.

According to HCHANJ officials, “Stephanie Kulak is the epitome of a great clinician. While she is invaluable as Preferred’s Corporate Director of Nursing overseeing 14 offices in the region, her dedication to the industry goes well beyond her ‘day job.’ Throughout COVID, she coordinated vaccine clinics, providing almost daily transmission updates. While working through the ever-changing vaccine mandate implications. She created Preferred COVID vaccine clinics and coordinated with others to allow for their employees to get vaccinated at a Preferred location.

Kulak, a Registered Nurse (RN), holds a BSN in nursing from the University of Delaware and a Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing, Administration and Management from Aspen University, Denver, Colorado. Jersey Shore Association for HR Announces Ann C. Edwards Scholarship Winner

The Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR) has announced the 2022 recipient of the Ann C. Edwards Scholarship. The winner is Ryan Roettger, Brick, who will receive $1000 for his college education at Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pennsylvania, where is planning to major in Kinesiology and pursue a doctorate degree in Orthopedics Medicine. Roettger, the son of Lisa and Rob Roettger, will graduate from Brick High School this June.

During his high school career, Roettger was a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Honor Society for High School Scholars. He has been a distinguished honor student for all eight high school semesters. He is a four-year multi-sport athlete in baseball, lacrosse, and soccer.

As part of his community service, Roettger has worked with a multitude of charitable organizations. He says one of his proudest accomplishments is his work with the Israel Guide Dog Center, which provides guide dogs to help support 24,000 citizens who are blind or visually impaired.

The scholarship, awarded annually to the son or daughter of a JSAHR member, is part of JSAHR’s commitment to building the future through the education of young adults. JSAHR, an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), is an organization dedicated to the advancement of Human Resources professionals within Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The scholarship is named in honor of Ann C. Edwards. Edwards, who is retired, was a founding member and past president of the JSAHR. She had a long and distinguished career in the New Jersey HR field and has held a variety of leadership and managerial positions in HR. Among other accomplishments, Edwards served as the Workforce Development Director for the Garden State Council of HR for many years; and was one of the founders of the Putting Your Best Foot Forward Program, a school to work job guide.
