Dr. Jones Appointed Supervisor of Instruction at the Gateway School

Dr. LeRoi Jones recently joined the staff as a supervisor of instruction and a teacher at the Gateway School, Carteret, one of three RKS Associates private special education schools approved by the N.J. Department of Education for students with special needs and disabilities.

Dr. Jones, who has 15 years of educational and special education experience, will provide administrative support and instructional expertise to teachers and paraprofessionals. John Gonzalez, the previous supervisor of instruction, has become principal of the Alpha School, Jackson, N.J.

Prior to accepting the position at the Gateway School, Dr. Jones was the principal of the Lehmann School LADACIN Network, Lakewood, N.J.  Dr. Jones is also an adjunct professor at St. Peter’s University, Jersey City.

Dr. Jones was graduated from Monmouth University, Long Branch, with two Master’s degrees, one in educational leadership; the other in psychological counseling.  In 2011 Dr. Jones earned his Ed.D., a doctoral degree, in educational leadership from Rowan University, Glassboro, N.J.

A native of Red Bank, N.J., Dr. Jones was known as an accomplished and distinguished member of the Rowan University football team during his undergraduate days.  He made the All-American first team and in his final year was selected as Defensive Player of the Year.  After graduation Dr. Jones signed a contract with the Connecticut Coyotes and played with this professional team for one year.

The Alpha, Harbor, and Gateway schools each offer a twelve-month program with a wide range of services, including speech, occupational and physical therapy; counseling; music; computers; physical education; and vocational training.
