Financial Resources Federal Credit Union Donates Holiday Toys for Children

Posted on January 31, 2012 By

Employees and members of Financial Resources Federal Credit Union (FCU), with headquarters in Bridgewater, N.J., participated in Gifts of the Season, the 2011 United Way Toy Drive by filling decorated toy collection boxes at Financial Resources FCU’s five branches in Bridgewater, Green Brook, Hillsborough, Flemington and Somerset with hundreds of unwrapped toys for children in need and to help families struggling to make ends meet.

Receiving the gifts for their children meant that parents could use their limited financial resources for their family’s basic needs, such as food, utilities, rent, etc. without going into debt to pay for gifts for their children.

Lena Matthews, CEO of Financial Resources FCU, says, “The Gifts of the Season toy drive is a great way to encourage community involvement for such a great cause. We feel this is the least we can do to help make the holiday season a happy time for children and their families in the community.”

Each year, thousands of low-income families and individuals receive holiday gifts thanks to the generosity and contributions of local organizations, such as Financial Resources FCU. This was the second consecutive year Financial Resources FCU participated in the United Way Toy Drive. Last year, alone, more than 13,000 gifts were distributed.

Gifts of the Season is a partnership effort of Somerset County United Way, the Somerset County Food Bank Network, the Somerset County Board of Social Services and many other local agencies that serve low-income families.
