Financial Resources Federal Credit Union’s Food Drive Benefits Four Food Pantries
In 2010, nearly 49 million Americans, or 32.6 million adults and 16.2 million children were not sure where their next meal was coming from. Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. They are unable to consistently get nutritious and adequate amounts of food to maintain a healthy life. (USDA. Coleman-Jensen, A., Nord, M., Andrews, M., & Carlson, S. To help people in several local communities, employees of Financial Resources Federal Credit Union (FCU), with headquarters in Bridgewater, N.J., held its third annual food drive during December to support four local food banks: the Franklin Township Food Bank, the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, the Flemington Area Food Pantry, and the Hillsborough Food Pantry.
Financial Resources FCU employees separated and packaged the food; and at the end of the drive, each branch delivered the food to their local food bank.
