Iain Matthews Celebrates His 50th Anniversary Friday at The Strand Theater

Iain Matthews, founding member of Fairport Convention, a Matthews Southern Comfort and Plainsong, will celebrate his 50th Anniversary this Friday, September 24 with a show at the historic Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Matthews is part of The “Shaking Off the Cobwebs” Concert Series that mark the official opening of the Strand.

All shows will be held in the main theater and will be on Livestream as well. Food will be available for purchase upon request, but with limited availability. Please email amy@strand.org for more information.

Tickets cost $25.00. For upcoming shows, the Box office is open Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and two hours before every show

“Shaking Off The Cobwebs” concert series is designed to welcome patrons back to the theater and artists back to the stage. Closed to the public since October 2020, the Strand stage is lit once again.

About the Strand Theater The historic Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Ave., Lakewood, was designed by world-renowned theater architect Thomas Lamb in 1922 and is listed on the N.J. and National Register of Historic Places. The Strand offers year-round entertainment in plush, air-conditioned surroundings. It is a perfect venue to showcase comedians, musicals, dinner theater, stars from television and movies, and legendary musical entertainers. The reception gallery includes a catering facility for 250 people, a dance floor, and restrooms. It is ideal for theater-in-the-round, smaller events and receptions.

The Strand relies on the support of Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Township of Lakewood, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority; and the LDC and the UEZ programs along with many businesses, organizations, and individuals.
