Lakewood Household Hazardous Waste Day, Sunday, Nov. 11

Don’t know what to do with those old cans of paint, thinners, pesticides and other hazardous waste products? Lakewood Township and the Department of Public Works (DPW) is holding a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day for residents only, Sunday, November 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the DPW, One America Way.  Bring your hazardous waste to the lower yard of the DPW, sign in and see the attendant.

 Here are the acceptable materials that must be in original containers with the exception of oil and gasoline:

Paints and thinners, solvents, pool chemicals, pesticides and herbicides, aerosol

cans, auto products and fluids, cleaning products and polishes, waste oil, used

gasoline, and propane tanks

 Unacceptable materials include:

Radioactive materials, dioxins, infectious wastes (“red bag” wastes), explosives,

ammunition and gun powder, boat flares, and all unknown or unidentified materials

The Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day for residents is NOT open to businesses and commercial establishments, schools, and municipal and state government agencies.
