Lakewood Recreation Program Continues 50+ Years of Tradition

Posted on May 29, 2018 By

The Township of Lakewood is pleased to announce that it will once again offer its summer recreation camp for the youth of Lakewood. This continues a long time tradition dating back to 1965 of providing an economical and local summer day camp experience for children 5-13 years of age and entering grades K-7 this fall.  The 2018 camp experience will offer many fun activities and field trips to engage and entertain campers as well as enhanced safety and security measures to better protect our campers.

Summer camp will begin on July 2 and run through August 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with no camp on July 4.   Camp is free to all Lakewood residents and only $100 for out-of-town campers.  Each camper will receive a free lunch daily.

Camp locations include Pine Park, D’Zio Park, Clifton Avenue Grade School, John Patrick Sports Complex and the Rev. Clayton Park. Summer Band Camp will be held at the High School only.

Registration is required.  The Recreation program staff will be at various locations throughout the municipality between May and late June to help residents register their children. Check the township’s website for details. Registration forms are offered in both English and Spanish. Parents and guardians can download forms from our website www.lakewoodnj.gov and click “Summer Recreation Program” on the homepage.  Forms may also be picked up and returned to the Municipal Building, 231 Third Street, or the Lakewood Public Works Department at 1 America Avenue.
