Lakewood Township and LPD Offer Summer Safety Program

Posted on July 3, 2013 By

Lakewood Township and the Lakewood Police Department are inviting Lakewood summer day camps to either schedule tours of Lakewood Town Hall and the Police Department including the jails or have a police officer visit the day camp to talk about basic safety.

This program, coordinated through Mayor Akerman’s office with the Lakewood Police Department, is available during July and August. Topics include wearing helmets, using reflectors, recognizing and reporting suspicious packages, and avoiding strangers, among other topics.

Mayor Akerman said, “It is important for our youth to know that Lakewood Township police officers are our friends and are there to help us.”

To schedule a tour at the Lakewood Municipal Building, 231 Third Street, Lakewood, or a visit by a police officer, call Sarah Kay, confidential aide to the Township committee, at 732-364-2500 Ext 5973 or skay@lakewoodnj.gov.
