OHI Announces Its 2014 Board of Directors
OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) federally qualified health center (FQHC) with locations in Lakewood, Toms River, and Manahawkin has announced its 2014 Board of Directors.
The 2014 OHI executive board is made up of Chairman Jorge Rod, Jackson, CEO and owner of JA Rod Associations, and the publisher of Latinos Unidos of New Jersey and the Ocean County Jewish Journal; Vice Chairman Dr. Anthony Lombardino, Millstone Township, a board-certified neurologist; Secretary Danny Goldberg, Lakewood, the executive director of the Jewish Federation of Ocean County and adjunct professor at Ocean County College; and Treasurer Catherine Ainora, Millstone Township, senior vice president of System Development and Planning, and a member of the Executive Leadership Committee of Barnabas Health.
Other 2014 OHI board members include Alexander Torres, administrative assistant to the director of the Educational Support Services Department at St. Francis Community Center, and a pastor and worship leader in the Hispanic community of The Church of Grace and Peace, Toms River; Debra Levinson, regional director for the Ocean Monmouth Health Alliance, a regional chronic disease coalition, grant-funded by the Office of Cancer Control and Prevention, N.J. Department of Health; John Craddox, athletic director at Lakewood High School where he was principal of the Oak Street School; Odelind Lewis, licensed clinical social worker who was director of Brookdale Community College’s Asbury Park satellite campus; and Zarita Mattox, the chief librarian of the Ocean County Library, Toms River branch.
OHI provides comprehensive preventative and primary health and dental care to the uninsured and underinsured populations in Ocean County, N.J., at several locations: 101 Second Street, Lakewood; 301 Lakehurst Road, Toms River; 333 Haywood Road, Manahawkin; Clifton Avenue Elementary School, 625 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood; and the Mobile Medical Unit outside the George J. Mitchell Elementary School, 950 N. Green Street, Little Egg Harbor.
OHI increases access to care by using an affordable, sliding scale fee, and by serving patients regardless of their ability to pay. OHI employs 138 people and has 21 providers (doctors and nurse practitioners) who offer their services in such areas as dental, OB/GYN, pediatrics, podiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, and social services. In 2013, 22,399 individual patients were treated at OHI, resulting in 79,534 total patient visits. Close to 5,000 patients (4,948) received flu shots and 902 babies were delivered.
