OHI Offers Free Pregnancy Testing in Lakewood and Toms River

Posted on April 20, 2015 By

The OB/GYN Department of OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center, is offering free pregnancy testing at 101 Second Street, Lakewood, and 301 Lakehurst Road, Toms River. No appointments are required, and patients with a positive test result can see an OB/GYN provider at the same time.

Same day appointments are available for prenatal and GYN services, including Saturdays and late evenings. OB/GYN patients will also be able to get prenatal vitamins or oral contraceptives for a minimal cost on the same day as their visit in the Lakewood pharmacy, which is expected to open soon.

OHI offers comprehensive women’s services, including complete pregnancy care, non-stress testing, post-partum care, WIC services on site, and pediatric prenatal visits with the opportunity to meet your newborn’s pediatrician during your last appointment.

Gynecological services include annual exams; cancer screening exams and testing, STD testing, treatment and education; HPV testing; colposcopy; and menopausal education and treatment. OHI offers GYN screening exams and testing during annual physicals in its Internal Medicine Department.

Dr. Gilbert Fleischer, CMO at OHI, said, “It is very important to us to be able to see our OB patients on the same day as their positive pregnancy test. Ensuring our patients get in the door and immediately into treatment ensures both mother and child are given the best opportunity for the safest pregnancy and delivery.” Almost 90 percent of OHI’s prenatal patients entered treatment during their first trimester.
