Saving Lives Isn’t Just for Lifeguards! 2018 Summer Blood Drive
It can’t be made synthetically. Only an actual donation of blood can save lives, and this summer Central Jersey Blood Center (CJBC) is facing a shortage of more than 1000 units of platelets and red blood cells! Here are the facts: One out of every 10 people entering a New Jersey hospital needs blood. Without blood transfusions, 4.5 million Americans would die each year.
To encourage blood donations, the Central Jersey Blood Center (CJBC), 494 Sycamore Avenue, Shrewsbury, N.J., is running a summer raffle. You donate blood. They will give you a raffle ticket you can enter to win a $2000 Norwegian Cruise Line vacation or a $1500 shopping spree at Jersey Shore Premium Outlets, and more.
Every person who donates blood at a CJBC Donor Center will receive a raffle ticket for a prize now through September 4, 2018, when the winning tickets will be drawn. Donors can earn an additional raffle ticket by referring people, or bringing family or friends who have not donated to CJBC before.
Everyone, 17 years of age and older who can, should consider giving a donation of blood as soon as possible. Alyssa Drown, the marketing manager of CJBC, said, “Spread the word to friends, family, and members of the community about the importance of blood donations during the summer. Everyday literally hundreds of people in New Jersey need blood. Whether it’s because of automobile accidents, cancer patients in need of treatment, or the multitude of other reasons individuals need blood, we need your help today.”
The Central Jersey Blood Center, a community-based, nonprofit blood collection and distribution organization, strives to save lives every single day by providing safe blood products that go to local New Jersey hospitals. No substitution exists for human blood; it cannot be manufactured!
