The Strand Theater Is Opening This August!
The historic Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood, is “Shaking Off The Cobwebs” with a new concert series designed to welcome patrons back to the theater and artists back to the stage. Closed to the public since October 2020, the Strand stage will be lit once again on August 6, August 21, and September 24, with concerts, sponsored by Ray Coles.
Rod Picott, a renowned Americana artist and author will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of his first show at the Strand on Friday, August 6, at 8:00 p.m. Picott will play a selection of songs from his catalog, including many from his latest release “Wood, Steel, Dust And Dreams,” a collection of songs he penned with good friend Slaid Cleaves that includes their breakthrough hit “Broke Down.”
Perhaps best known for penning “Part of The Union,” one of The Strawbs’ biggest hits, John Ford has just released a new album “Life in A Foreign Town.” Ford and his band return to the Strand on August 21 at 8:00 p.m. for their first show in front of a live audience in more than a year. As a special thank you, Ford is giving each patron a copy of the new CD.
On September 24 at 8:00 p.m., Iain Matthews celebrates his long delayed 50th Anniversary show at the Strand. A founding member of Fairport Convention, Matthews Southern Comfort and Plainsong, Matthews will perform many of his hits over the past half century.
