Alpha School to Promote New Principal in July
John Gonzalez, East Brunswick, a supervisor of instruction at Alpha School, Jackson, N.J., one of three RKS Associates private special education schools approved by the N.J. Department of Education for students with special needs and disabilities, will become the principal of the Alpha School this July, replacing Principal Monica DeTuro who is retiring after 20 years as principal.
Gonzalez, who joined the Alpha School staff in 2018, brings 17 years of experience working with exceptional children in the Jersey City Public Schools. Gonzalez received his B.S. in Management from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, in 2000; and a M.A. in Special Education and Educational Leadership from New Jersey City University, Jersey City, in 2006.
The Alpha, Harbor, and Gateway schools each offer a twelve-month program with a wide range of services, including speech, occupational and physical therapy; counseling; music; computers; physical education; and vocational training.
