Free Air Force Band Concert at the Strand Theater This August

Enjoy a free concert of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band sponsored by Fulton Bank, Ocean First Bank, and the Strand Theater, Friday, August 17, 2018, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood, New Jersey. This concert features big band favorites from the 40’s and 50’s, and new songs from today’s greatest jazz composers.

With music dedicated to our veterans and all Airmen serving worldwide, the Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble honors our American military heroes for their selfless sacrifice at every performance. Whether presenting the sounds of the great big band era or the new sounds of today, Rhythm in Blue appeals to all ages.

Made up of outstanding, active-duty Airman musicians from around the country, Rhythm in Blue is one of the few traveling big bands still in existence that performs regularly. From the swingin’ sounds of Major Glenn Miller to the best of contemporary big band jazz, Rhythm in Blue entertains audiences of all ages with style and sophistication.

Paying homage to the great big bands of Basie, Ellington, Kenton and Goodman, Rhythm in Blue also spotlights the works of modern bands and composers such as the Mingus Big Band, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, and John Fedchock’s New York Big Band.

About the Strand Theater The historic Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Ave., Lakewood, was designed by world-renowned theater architect Thomas Lamb in 1922 and is listed on the N.J. and National Register of Historic Places. Now the home of the Atlantic City Ballet, Exit 82 Theater, Brick Children’s Community Theater Company, among others, the Strand has hosted on its stage such entertainers as Pearl Bailey, Dionne Warwick, Milton Berle, Ronnie Spector, Taylor Swift, George Carlin, and many, many more stars since its grand opening.
