Local Families Whose Children Have Cancer Will Benefit from Smiles for Life Campaign
Forty-three families, members of Ocean of Love, whose children have cancer will benefit from the 2014 Smiles for Life Campaign, sponsored and supported each year by Dr. Ron Rotem, a Toms River dentist and member of the national Crown Council.
Gary Schiavone, an executive board member of Ocean of Love for more than 21 years, accepted $1650.00 on behalf of the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Ocean of Love, Toms River, assists families with such nonmedical expenses as monthly gas cards that help defray the cost of driving to and from hospitals, parking fees at hospitals, mortgage payments, utilities, food, and even babysitting.
Schiavone said, “Dr. Rotem has been donating the fruits of his labor every year for as long as I can remember. I have only praise and thankfulness to him and his staff for the annual donation he makes to Ocean of Love.”
Each year, Dr. Rotem sets aside 100 percent of his fees for teeth whitening during the annual Smiles for Life Campaign, March 1 through June 30. Through the national Smiles for Life Campaign, Dr. Rotem has donated more than $50,000.00 to charities, especially Ocean of Love.
“What a wonderful opportunity to do something for yourself and, at the same time, help families who need support,” said Dr. Rotem. “It’s really a win-win for everyone.”
Since 1998, The Smiles for Life Foundation, the charitable arm of the Crown Council, has raised more than $30 million for children’s charities across North America because members of Crown Council dental practices have agreed to donate the cost of professional tooth whitening during the Smiles for Life campaign.
Dr. Rotem graduated from NYU College of Dentistry in 1991. His practice focuses on cosmetic dentistry and conscious sedation. Dr. Rotem belongs to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is affiliated with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, NJ Chapter of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation, the International College of Cranial Mandibular Orthopedics, the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, Monmouth/Ocean Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Rotem is an active member of the Crown Council. He is also a member of the Jersey Shore Business Network, Toms River.
