Manufacturing Week Summit Set at OCC September 30

Ocean County College* is celebrating New Jersey Manufacturing Week by holding a manufacturing summit and panel discussion on Wednesday, September 30 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., at Ocean County College, 1 College Drive, 5th Floor Meeting Room, Gateway Building (#101), Toms River, N.J.

Admission is free. Manufacturers, C-level executives, managers, business decision-makers, among others are encouraged to attend.

The panel of experts in manufacturing include guest speaker Brian Neuwirth, President Unex Corporation; moderator Ian Trammel, executive director, MechaForce; Michael Donahue, corporate human resources manager, Viking Yachts; Michael Kolibas, president, Komo Machine; Terri Bower, human resource manager, PL Custom Body; Andrew Davidson, vice president, Advanced Products, LLC, Manufacturer of Structural Railing Systems; and Frank Robinson, first vice president, NJBIA (New Jersey Business & Industry Association).

The discussion will focus on the needs of employers and what types of training employees must have. Employers will have the opportunity to collect information about how to receive funding, which comes out of workforce programs, for hiring new employees and interns. Attendees will also learn about free training courses available to company employees; and management consulting on how to be efficient, profitable and globally competitive.

According to the National Manufacturers Association, manufacturing supported an estimated 17.6 jobs in the United States, and more than 12 million Americans (or nine percent of the workforce) are employed directly in manufacturing. (Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014), with estimate of total employment supported by manufacturing calculated by NAM using data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (2013, 2014).
