People Intelligence – The Science of Emotional Skills and Deception

Posted on May 28, 2014 By

Emotional awareness is considered by many to be the most important skill required for successful leadership and HR professionals. The program “People Intelligence – The Science of Emotional Skills and Deception” will introduce how emotions are triggered and how to more effectively manage them to create more effective relationships. To understand others, it is important to know what they are feeling and thinking.

Maggie Pazian and Mike Palestina, managing partners at People Intell Institute, will present People Intelligence, a program grounded in science, Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR) meeting, 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., at Jumping Brook Country Club, 210 Jumping Brook Road, Neptune, N.J.

Implications for human resource managers and business applications include the fact that 80 percent of turnovers are attributed to bad hires, and the cost of a bad hire can be five times that employee’s salary (Harvard Business Review); 81 percent of job candidates lied about themselves during interviews and an average of three lies are told for every 15 minutes of discussion (Harvard Business Review); and the annual revenue loss related to lying in a typical corporation is five percent (Forbes)

The registration fee for the June meeting, including a full buffet breakfast, is $30.00 for JSAHR members; $40.00 for nonmembers; $25.00 for those in-transition, and $10.00 for full-time students. This program is pending HRCI credits.

To register, call Kathi Evans, JSAHR administrator, at 732-270-5204, or email jsahr.shrm@gmail.com. JSAHR is a Gold Excel award winner of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management).
