Preferred Nurse Pam Miller Makes Masks
Pam Miller, RN, Chatsworth, the director of nursing at the Mount Laurel branch of Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services, LLC (PHHC), has been sewing masks with her longtime friend Barbara Wagner, Southampton, N.J.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the friends have made more than 500 masks, using fabric on hand and buying the needed elastic. At first the masks were used for field employees and internal staff at the Mount Laurel office of PHHC. By word-of-mouth, however, people began to call or text what they needed.
Miller said, “We both like to sew and we both help make quilts that are sent all over the world. Sewing masks is not out of character for either one of us.
“Our masks, all of which we donate, have gone to a 55+ community, food bank volunteers, Deborah Hospital, and an oncology facility administering chemo treatments.”
The pair did not want to take any money for the masks so, instead, they ask for donations to the Bridge of Peace Food Bank in Camden, N.J. “We have given the food bank more than $700. The food bank has also received $500 in matching funds. Who would have thought!”
