Posted on April 29, 2020 By

Mayor Ray Coles and the Township Committee announced that the annual Lakewood Memorial Day parade and ceremony scheduled for May 25, 2020, has been postponed because of the COVID-19 situation and its impact on Lakewood. The parade and ceremony will be rescheduled.

Mayor Coles said, “This event is meant to celebrate and foster a sense of community, and to honor the heroic actions of men and women who have served and are now serving in the military. When we all can get back to our normal routines, it is important to us that we come together and enjoy this American tradition as a community.”

The foremost goal of the Township Committee and all Township officials is to keep its citizens healthy and safe. Coles said, “The Township looks forward to hosting the parade and will make information available to the public when a new date is set. Even though the parade is postponed, residents are encouraged to display their pride and display their American flags during the Memorial Day holiday.
