Sports Medicine and Coaching Symposium Set for Athletes

Dr. Gerardo Goldberger, an orthopedic surgeon at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Freehold and Monroe townships, is presenting the third annual Sports Medicine and Coaching Symposium for multisport and endurance athletes, including cyclists, runners, and swimmers, and triathletes in conjunction with an interactive educational program and multisport expo, Saturday, March 12, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus in the CentraState Fitness and Wellness Center, Freehold, N.J.

Proceeds will benefit local triathlon clubs and charity organizations, including “Stomp the Monster” for cancer research and the “I Will Foundation,” which supports athletes recovering from traumatic illness or injury.

Attendees will be evaluated by coaches, therapists, and trainers in addition to receiving individual instruction and analysis of swim stokes, gait, running form and foot strike, shoe evaluations, and bike fitting, all of which are on a first come, first serve basis. The interactive educational program includes such topics as coaching methodology and training techniques, all designed to enhance performance and injury prevention

This year’s expo will include multiple national organizations, including Blue Seventy, Cervelo, Pearl Izumi, Power Tap, Look, Orca and Zip.
