Showcase Your Business at the 4th Annual Lakewood Regional Business Expo & Networking

The Lakewood Development Corporation and the Lakewood Industrial Commission are hosting the 4th annual business-to-business Lakewood Regional Business Expo & Networking Event, Thursday, July 12, 2012, in the Lakewood Industrial Park at Lake Terrace Hall, 1690 Oak Street, from noon to 4:30 p.m. 

Last year more than 100 businesses exhibited and hundreds attended the Expo throughout the day, enjoying  prizes, screenings, special offers, give-a-ways and free business seminars sponsored by Lakewood’s UEZ program.  Admission and ample parking are free.

Vendors who would like to promote their business and commerce B-to-B as well as reach the general public are encouraged to attend.  Restaurants and food establishments are welcome as exhibitors.

Patricia Komsa, executive director of the Lakewood Development, says, “This is a great opportunity for area-wide businesses to showcase their goods and services at a reasonable price.”

Sponsorships are still available. The Expo sponsors to date are Greater Media Newspapers, Greater Media Radio Stations (The WRAT, 95.9 and Magic 100.1), the BlueClaws, Monmouth Ocean Development Council, Jersey Shore Business Leaders, and Pizza Plus, Lakewood.

Exhibition space reserved before May 15 is $150.00 and includes one table and two chairs. The cost for nonprofits is $75.00, and chambers of commerce pay only $25.00.  After May 15, prices will increase.  Sponsorship opportunities begin at $300.00.

Orthopedic Practice Moves Wall Office to Lake Como

AOSMI (Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute), Freehold, has moved its Wall Township office to 1719 Main Street, Lake Como, in order to expand services for patients. Dr. Alan Nasar, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, has been instrumental in developing and directing The Total Joint Center of New Jersey. Dr. Gerardo Goldberger, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializes in sports medicine, with a particular interest in high performance athletes. Dr. Goldberger, a team physician at the 1994 Soccer World Cup and the 1996 Olympic Games, has pioneered an integrative approach to evaluating and treating runners, swimmers and triathletes, inclusive of the latest minimally invasive techniques in shoulder, knee and hip arthroscopy. Dr. Goldberger is a senior Board Examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. James F. Cozzarelli, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializes in arthroscopy, total joint replacement, and fracture and trauma care. He was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

Dr. Gerald Mauriello Jr., a board-qualified, podiatric foot and ankle surgeon, serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and The Foot and Ankle Institute of Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania . He specializes in complete foot, ankle and lower leg care. He is one of the only foot and ankle surgeons in New Jersey trained in the latest ankle replacement surgery, the S.T.A.R total ankle replacement.

Quality Inn, Toms River, Becomes Clarion Hotel & Conference Center

On May 1, 2012, the Quality Inn, 815 Route 37 West, Toms River, N.J., will open its doors as the newly converted Clarion Hotel & Conference Center. But more than the name has changed.

As part of its transition from The Quality Inn to the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center, extensive renovations of its 100 guest rooms have been taking place, including new furniture, new drapes with blackout curtains and sheers, and a new bedding package; flat screen T.V.s, with upgraded programming and 14 new HD channels; and the continuation of refrigerators, microwaves and coffee makers in each room. Some rooms even have in-room whirlpool baths.

In addition, the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center has renovated the lobby; continues to offer free high speed wireless Internet access throughout the hotel; added a brand new exercise room with all new equipment; and has expanded the business center to include free print, fax and copy services. The meeting rooms and two ballrooms, recently updated, can accommodate up to 500 people.

Other amenities include an outdoor pool; onsite dining in Ike’s Pub & Grill, serving lunch and dinner daily; and a daily breakfast buffet open to the public.

Kimball Medical Center Foundation, Lakewood, a part of Barnabas Health, is holding its 2012 Gala, Saturday, May 5 at Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club, 20 Shore Oaks Drive, Farmingdale, N.J., to honor those who have helped make Kimball Medical Center an outstanding community hospital.

Brick Rainbow Kids Holds Open House

Bring the family and join the staff for “Fun Day Sunday,” an open house at Brick Rainbow Kids, 1823 Route 88, Brick, N.J., Sunday, April 15, 2012, from noon to 2:00 p.m.  All activities are free and include Snazzy Jazzy Faces, face painting; a magic show, featuring Robert Francis, the Dork of Deception; Rolling Video Games of N.J.; Pony & Pals, a petting zoo; House of Bounce; and pirates from Pirate Adventures Jersey Shore.

Also on hand will be Ali-Cakes, cake decorating; the Ocean County YMCA; and Theresa Artigas Photography.

Brick Rainbow Kids is a daycare and learning center that provides before school and after school care to accommodate the schedules of working parents from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily for children ages six weeks to 10 years.  A N.J. certified kindergarten program is offered from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Owner of Game Shape Earns Doctorate

Michelle Wolpov, Freehold, owner and executive director of Game Shape – Physical Therapy and Medical Fitness Center, Manalapan, has earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy with emphasis on Executive Private Practice Management from the EIM Institute of Health Professions, Kentucky.

Before opening her physical therapy and medical fitness center that includes professional sports and orthopedic rehabilitation along with sports performance services ten years ago, Dr. Wolpov founded a healthcare consulting company, specializing in practice management.

Dr. Wolpov earned an MBA from Monmouth University where she received the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Award and was named the “Top Student” in the MBA class of 2001. Dr. Wolpov also holds a B.S. in physical therapy from Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y.

Her licenses and certifications include physical therapist (PT), certified athletic trainer (ATC), and a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).
