Some HR professionals have begun to see their jobs differently and to engage with employees in a different manner, realizing that job security is an illusion. 

Dr. Lucille Maddalena, a coach, trainer, and consultant with more than 25 years in human resource management, will present ways HR professionals can stop “selling” HR and start facilitating without taking sides at the Thursday, June 9, 2011, meeting of Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR), 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., Jumping Brook Country Club, 210 Jumping Brook Road, Neptune, N.J.

Free Trade Show and Event Marketing Seminar

Novy & Associates Hires Jaclyn Ewing as Marketing Director

Jaclyn Kirby Ewing, Manasquan, has been hired as a marketing director for Novy & Associates, Manchester, N.J. Ewing will implement the firm’s marketing plan; and oversee its branding strategy; and marketing activities and materials, including all media, among other duties.

Before joining Novy & Associates, Ewing was the communications manager and a performance coach for the Atlantic Club, Manasquan, where she created, managed, and carried out the marketing and communications’ plans for the Parisi Speed School, a training center for young athletes.

Ewing holds a B.A. in mass media studies with a minor in sociology from Florida State University (FSU), Tallahassee; and a Masters of Communications from the University of Central Florida, Orlando.  She was one out of 100 Emerging Leaders, chosen to join a committee of young leaders at FSU.

She was a member of Orlando’s Young Business Leaders, the Junior League of Central Florida, and was a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of Orlando. She is a member of the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, a group exercise instructor at Brielle Sports Club, N.J., and a board member of Jersey Shore Business Leaders.

iPlay and Encore Event Center Nams Pelechaty to Its Group Sales and Events Division

Julie A. Pelechaty, Barnegat, has been named to the Group Sales and Events Division of iPlay America and Encore Event Center, Freehold, N.J.  As a member of the group sales division of iPlay America, the largest indoor amusement park and event center in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York,  Pelechaty will work directly with travel agencies, group directors, religious organizations, camp directors, and tourism organizations with groups of 20 or more.  She will also attend networking events and trade shows, among her other responsibilities.

Before joining iPlay and Encore, Pelechaty worked as a sales manager for Chelsea, (Cape Resorts Group), managing and coordinating the sales departments, and developing effective business partnerships. She also was the regional sales manager for Six Flags Great Adventure for four years, managing a staff of sales representatives covering New Jersey, New York, and New England.

Pelechaty graduated from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Pomona, with a BA in Communications.  She grew up in Cape May and was graduated from Cape May Regional High School.

Financial Resources FCU Foundation Announces Annual Scholarship Program

Bridgewater, N.J. – The charitable foundation of Financial Resources Federal Credit Union will be awarding three $1000.00 scholarships to high school seniors preparing for college or technical school. Applicants must either be credit union members or be residents of Somerset, Middlesex, or Hunterdon counties. 

For the first time, applicants will be judged on SAT scores, if applicable; academic performance, community involvement, teacher recommendations, and personal goals, rather than an essay, which was used in years past as the basis for awarding scholarships. 

Lena Matthews, Chairman of the Foundation and President and CEO Financial Resources Federal Credit Union says, “The new format allows us to assess the candidates across a broader range of criteria.  We’re considering their experiences and scholastic achievements as a whole, rather than just their ability to deliver a well-written essay.”

“Let’s Talk about Your Knees” Dr. Nasar Presents a Free Seminar

Dr. Alan Nasar, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute (AOSMI) who is fellowship-trained in joint replacement, is giving “Let’s Talk about Your Knees,” a free seminar for the public about the advances in the treatment of knee pain and arthritis on Thursday, May 26, 2011, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Conference Center, Room B, of the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus of CentraState Medical Center, 901 W. Lakewood Township to Honor Soldiers on Memorial Day – Veterans Sought

Members of the Lakewood Township community are preparing to show their support of all veterans and those men and women now serving in the military at Lakewood’s traditional Memorial Day ceremonies, Monday, May 30, 2011, starting with the “Raising of the American Flag” ceremony at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood’s Town Square, Clifton Avenue.

The Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. and pass the Review Stand on its way down Clifton Avenue to the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, where the Memorial Day program will take. In case of inclement weather the Memorial Day ceremony will be held in the auditorium of the Lakewood Municipal building, 231 Third Street.

Mayor Menashe Miller, who is a Major in the Air Force and a chaplain, Senator Robert W. Singer, Senator Sean Kean, and Assemblyman David Rible, among other dignitaries, will be present at the All Wars Memorial Amphitheater.

Mayor Menashe Miller says, “The parade is a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to demonstrate their support for our esteemed veterans and for our selfless men and women currently in the service both here and abroad.”

Lawrence Krompier Named Executive Director of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce

The Board of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce has named Lawrence S. Krompier, Millstone Township, as the new Executive Director of the Chamber. As executive director, Krompier will manage the operations of the Chamber, promote and advocate for local business and industry, and implement and coordinate all Chamber activities and projects, among other responsibilities.

Prior to being the executive director of the Lakewood Chamber, Krompier was director of membership for the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, Trenton, where he was in charge of business development and marketing programs that supported business advocacy. In addition he was responsible for developing strategic business relationships and increasing membership.

Krompier has also worked closely with the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council (MODC), Wall, and the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce, Red Bank, N.J., advising both organizations in business advocacy and development.

Krompier says, “Having been the president of my own 40-year-old family business and having served as director of membership for the N.J. Chamber of Commerce, I understand the importance of a chamber and the benefits the Lakewood Chamber has to offer all business professionals. My objective is to continue to build a Chamber that reflects the diversity of our business community.

“My goals are to develop relationships and work closely with all who have a stake in the success of our businesses and our business professionals, not only within Lakewood’s borders but its surrounding areas as well.  This is going to be a very exciting time of growth for the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce.”

Meet Dr. Cardamone and Learn about a New Pregnancy Program

Are you pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant? From the moment of conception, a woman’s body changes; and those changes can cause fatigue, postural problems, leg cramps, and other problems. Starting a wellness and fitness program early in pregnancy will help a woman develop strength and endurance during labor, delivery, and beyond.

Dr. Kristen E. Cardamone, a board-certified interventional physiatrist at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute (AOSMI) of Freehold and Monroe townships, has launched a new program for pregnant women entitled, “Integrative Healing and Wellness for Women.”  Meet Dr. Cardamone and other doctors from AOSMI to learn about this new program on Friday, May 20 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the offices of AOSMI, 301 Professional View Drive, Freehold, N.J.  Light refreshments will be served.

Integrative Healing and Wellness for Women promotes wellness and pain management during pregnancy and during the postpartum period by focusing on many aspects, such as evaluation and feedback by a pain management physician, podiatry care, breath awareness, home exercises, and integrative yoga workshops, among others.

Dr. Kristie Kim, a physiatrist, and Dr. Gerald Mauriello, a podiatric surgeon, doctors at AOSMI; and Karena Virginia, a yoga instructor, will also be present to explain the program and answer questions.
