Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI), 1488 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, is hosting, “Bimah to Broadway,” Sunday, April 30, at 2:00 p.m. This Spring concert, open to the public, will feature Broadway show tunes with Jewish roots in special performances by cantors, congregants, and students.

Among the songs selected are “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)” from “Annie Get Your Gun,” written by Irving Berlin; and “Suddenly Seymour” from “Little Shop of Horrors,” composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman.

CBI’s Cantor Jake Greenberg will perform tunes from shows written or composed by Jewish musicians and librettists, along with guest cantors Daniella Risman of the Emanuel Synagogue, West Hartford, Conn.; and Mira Davis of the Park Avenue Synagogue, New York City, acclaimed performers with numerous appearances at synagogues and Jewish organizations throughout North America. They will be joined by Cantor Daniel Green and Cantor Ruth Katz Green, as well as members of the synagogue and students.

The annual event will benefit the Cantor Daniel Green Ramah-Youth Scholarship Fund, which assists CBI’s children and teens in pursuing summer Jewish experiences, such as camps.

Tickets are $18 for adults and free for children up to age 18. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, contact the CBI office at (732) 349-1244.
