Michele R. Donato Joins Local Law Firm
Michele R. Donato, Esq., has joined the law firm of Davison, Eastman, Muñoz, Lederman & Paone, P.A., with offices in Freehold and Toms River, N.J. Donato, who brings more than 40 years of legal experience to the firm, will focus on land use law, environmental law, historic preservation law and prerogative writ litigation.
Prior to joining Davison, Eastman, Muñoz, Lederman & Paone, Donato had her own firm in Lavallette, N.J. Before that, she was a partner in the law firm of Frizell & Pozycki, Metuchen.
Donato attended George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; and received a B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers College and her Juris Doctor in 1977 from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark. At Rutgers, she served on the editorial board of the Law Review, was a Student Bar Association representative, chairman of the Faculty Promotions & Tenure Committee, member of the Faculty Appointments Committee, and member of the Rutgers Environmental Law Society. She has been a coadjutant Rutgers faculty member from 1983 to the present.
Donato’s publications include The Department of the Public Advocate Public Interest Representation and Administrative Oversight, 30 Rutgers L. Rev. 386 (1977); New Jersey Practice, Skills and Methods, Updates (1981 through 1985); and Preserving New Jersey Commentary (1986 through 1987). She edited the 2013 edition of Cox, Zoning and Land Use Administration in New Jersey. She is a frequent contributor to New Jersey Planner and League of Municipality articles, among other similar publications.
Donato’s professional associations include General Counsel, New Jersey Planning Officials since 2012; Assistant and Associate Counsel to New Jersey Planning Officials (1992 to 2012). She was a trustee of the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys (2008 to 2015) and its second vice president. She also served as president of Preservation New Jersey (1990 through 1992).
Donato received the 2013 William Cox Award for Excellence in Land Use and was deemed among Super Lawyers, 2011 to 2019.
